Dry air is an advantage, until the week it is not

Cooling, heating and ventilation for houses and small businesses along the south metro — including the evaporative coolers half this area still runs, and the honest limits of them.

How we work

Three habits, and they are the whole difference

  • We measure the air, not just the equipmentTemperatures, airflow and pressures. A system can be in perfect condition and still not deliver, and that is a duct problem, not a repair.
  • We price before we startIn writing, including what happens if we open something up and find more. You decide at that point, not us.
  • We say when to waitPlenty of visits end with a pad change, a belt and a bill for an hour. That is a good outcome and we are not embarrassed by it.
Evaporative cooling

Will the swamp cooler cope today, or won't it?

An evaporative cooler works by evaporating water into the air it blows at you. In dry air that is remarkably effective and remarkably cheap. As humidity climbs, the same machine does less — and in August, along the Front Range, humidity climbs.

Put today's temperature and humidity into the calculator and it gives you roughly how cool the supply air can get, and whether that is going to be enough.

What we do

The work

  • Air conditioningService, repair and replacement, sized from the house rather than from the label on what is there now.
  • Evaporative coolersSeasonal start-up and shutdown, pads, floats, pumps, belts, bearings and the winter cover that stops the whole thing rusting.
  • FurnacesBurners, heat exchanger, flue, safeties, gas pressure and airflow — checked properly and written up.
  • Heat pumpsIncluding the backup heat settings that quietly decide what you pay between December and February.
  • Ducts and airflowSealing, repairs and measurement room by room, which is where most comfort complaints actually live.
  • VentilationBath and kitchen extract, and fresh-air routes in the tighter houses built here in the last twenty years.

Questions

Before you call

Why does the swamp cooler stop working in August?

Because an evaporative cooler cools by evaporating water into the air, and it cannot cool air below its wet-bulb temperature. When outdoor humidity climbs there is less evaporation available, so the same machine in the same condition delivers warmer air. The calculator shows roughly how much warmer.

Should I replace the cooler with air conditioning?

That depends on how many weeks a year it cannot keep up. A conversion is not just an outdoor unit — it usually means duct work, an indoor coil, electrical work and closing a roof opening. We will price it properly and tell you honestly whether it is worth it for your house.

How often does an evaporative cooler need servicing?

A start-up in spring and a shutdown in autumn, as a minimum. Hard water here scales the pads, so a mid-season look is worth it in a hot summer.

Do I need to leave windows open?

Yes — an evaporative cooler pushes air into the house and that air has to leave somewhere. In a sealed house the cooler works against its own pressure and delivers much less than it should.

Do you work on commercial premises?

Yes. Suites, clinics, studios, shops and light industrial units, with planned service and a written record per unit.

Which areas do you cover?

Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Lone Tree, Centennial, Parker, Castle Pines and Englewood.
